Opportunity Overview
AIChE’s K–12 Committee is recruiting volunteers for the ongoing development of a quarterly newsletter that will promote the K–12 and STEM outreach activities conducted by AIChE and its grassroots groups, as well as opportunities for the AIChE community to become involved in regional and global outreach projects.
Subcommittee volunteers will assist with the planning and assembly of the email newsletter, which will be distributed by AIChE to constituents who have expressed an interest in K–12 and STEM outreach. Initial work will include developing the outline/template for the newsletter. Subsequent activities may include reporting on AIChE K-12 outreach events, highlighting demonstrations and experiments, compiling lists of local or regional K-12 outreach events, submitting reports or photos from events, working with AIChE production staff, etc.
ExpectationsParticipants will join a task force of AIChE members who will work to develop strategy and collaborate on the ongoing collection and promotion of activities that showcase STEM outreach conducted by the AIChE/chemical engineering community. Specific assignments may vary. Time investment might vary from approx. 1 to 3 hours per month (including optional participation in monthly teleconferences of the K–12 Committee).
Requirements
This opportunity is for AIChE members. No past AIChE volunteer experience is necessary. Interest in K–12/STEM outreach is a plus, as is flexibility and a willingness to collaborate.
