Description:

Student Chapters Committee (SCC) Overview:

The advisors of all AIChE Student Chapters are members of the SCC.  The mission and purpose of the SCC is to guide all AIChE activities related to student chapters.  Important functions are to:
  • Foster among students and faculty a high level of awareness of and participation in valuable AIChE activities and programs
  • Generate, evolve, implement, and promote AIChE activities directly related to students (such as the Design Contest Problem, Communication between Student Chapters, Local sections, Student Awards, Chem-E-Car Competition, Regional Conferences, the Annual Student Conference and the Student Membership Initiative)
  • Provide a mechanism to obtain stakeholder consensus on actions that ultimately require board approval (such as chartering of new chapters, student dues and incentives that impact AIChE revenues)
SCC activities and decisions are facilitated by the SCC Executive Committee, which are volunteer leadership positions.  There are also many subcommittees that oversee various components of the AIChE Student Program.  All of these Subcommittees also have their own volunteer leadership positions.

Volunteer leaders who participate in the SCC Executive Committee or an SCC Subcommittee are able to earn points towards the Student Chapter Advisor Honor Roll Program, which allows volunteers to earn a partial or full discount on Registration to the AIChE Annual Meeting every Fall.  All Student Chapter Advisors are encouraged to participate.
