Opportunity Overview
AIChE's Chem-E-Car Competition® engages college students in designing and constructing a car powered by a chemical energy source, that will safely carry a specified load over a given distance and stop. The competition, which involves multiple regional competitions and a final competition at the Annual Student conference, increases awareness of the chemical engineering discipline among the public, industry leaders, educators, and other students. AIChE is looking for a volunteer to be the Chem-E-Car Poster Competition Chair which is taking place at 3:30PM - 7:30PM on Saturday October 28, 2017 at the Minneapolis Convention Center, Exhibit Hall C.
Expectations
AIChE Staff will take the lead on recruiting Poster Competition Judges, and will provide the judging rubric and a spreadsheet to tally the scores. The Poster Competition Chair will perform the following tasks (1) Divide Poster Competition judges into groups and assign them posters to review (2) collect the judging rubrics and determine which teams are the winners. If necessary, poster competition judges can perform a 2nd round of reviews to determine the winners.
Requirements
Volunteers should hold a degree in Chemical Engineering. Experience coordinating a research poster competition is preferred but not required.
Note
Volunteers should be willing to travel to the competition location in Minneapolis. Unfortunately we do not have travel support available for this volunteer opportunity.
