AIChE K-12 Committee is seeking volunteers to serve on its Bylaws Committee, including reading, writing, and editing bylaws. Bylaws are a rule or law established by an organization or community (the K-12 Committee) to regulate itself, as allowed or provided for by some higher authority (AIChE). The objective of this volunteer opportunity is to have volunteers function as critical reviewers for constructing and finalizing the K-12 Committee bylaws.
Your Benefit: By participating on the Bylaws Committee you will gain experience in constructing and finalizing bylaws which is of interest for those looking to expand their knowledge of contracts and laws that govern AIChE Communities. This will be an excellent professional development opportunity to share with your network. Additionally, you will interact with executive leadership on the K-12 Committee and gain experience as a K-12 volunteer which will allow you to be aware of potential paths to future leadership.
Expectations: Volunteers work collaboratively with Chair and Bylaw Committee volunteers to (1) Attend 3-4 1 hour Bylaw Committee meetings in Spring 2022 (2) read K-12 draft bylaws in its entirety (3) read example published bylaws in its entirety (4) provide grammar comments on the K-12 draft bylaws (5) Provide feedback on K-12 Draft bylaws contend (i.e. things to add that were found in other examples, or areas that were unclear. Experience writing and editing technical and organizational documents is a plus. By responding to this volunteer opportunity, you are spreading learning about society governance while helping support a committee that promotes K-12 education and outreach.
