My engineering career began in the US Navy as a Nuclear Propulsion Mechanical Operator/Welder. I served almost 6 years and chose to be discharged under honorable conditions. Upon leaving the Navy, I pursued pre-medical coursework at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. I transferred to Tennessee Technological University after two years, changed career goals and obtained my degree in Chemical Engineering. Upon graduation, I went to work at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina, where I performed many functions in Engineering over the next 14 years. I have most recently accepted the position of Safety Basis/Technical Services Engineer with AECOM.
I thrive in a team atmosphere and am vary adaptable to changing missions and functions. My skills are diverse: I am skilled at hands on mechanical, electrical and controls work; I have experience in nuclear power plant operation and maintenance; I have an extensive background in technical oversight of nuclear processing and environmental remediation activities, including design, operation and maintenance; I have various computer-based competencies, such as operation of Distributed Control Systems, use of Microsoft Office applications, MicroStation, Smartplant Foundation and various others.
