​Kelly Barb, originally from Sewell, NJ is a lifelong volunteer with passions for education, personal and professional development, and community capacity building. Kelly developed these passions through her experiences in international humanitarian development, including as a Project Lead for Engineers Without Borders in El Salvador, as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guinea, West Africa during the 2014 Ebola outbreak, and as the Co-Chair of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers’ Global Societal Initiatives Committee. Kelly has had the opportunity to share her stories and knowledge at over 30 speaking engagements around the country with topics including “Engineering for the Developing World,” “Surviving Your 20’s,” and “Developing Personally and Professionally through Volunteer Work.” Kelly has also participated in several AIChE initiatives including a video interview and podcast interview. At the local level, Kelly served on the Board of Directors for Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity, as a mentor for Rowan University’s Attracting Women into Engineering program, as a NJ Certified Volunteer Domestic Violence Response Team/Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate for SERV-Center for Family Services, and as a science fair judge at Oldmans Township School. Currently, Kelly serves as the Intern Manager for NJ Aid for Animals and as a team member on the Nicaragua project of the Engineers Without Borders - Philadelphia Professional Chapter.

Kelly was the recipient of the Volunteer Center of South Jersey’s Distinguished Youth Service Award in 2013. She received Recognizing Excellence in Volunteerism (REV) grant awards both in 2016 and 2017 from her employer, PSE&G, including the top individual award in 2017 for her work with AIChE. Over the years she won several other awards and scholarships for volunteerism and leadership from other community organizations as well.

Kelly has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and an MBA from Rowan University. She is employed as a Staff Engineer at PSE&G in Burlington, NJ. In her spare time Kelly enjoys practicing yoga, attending classical ballet performances, and working on her 167-year-old home in Historic Bristol Borough, PA.
