In my opinion it matters less WHICH simulator you learn but rather learn how to use A simulator. The techniques that you learn to do process simulation will mostly carry across the various simulators. Colorado School of Mines primarily teaches Aspen Plus. I've spent most of my career in the fuels industry (oil & gas and biofuels) and have primarily used HYSYS. But what you do is very similar for both as well as using ProMax, VMGSim, ChemCAD, and others.
