Hi, my name is Scott Love.

I began my career as a process engineer at Phillips Petroleum Company's Borger Refinery in 1980 and retired as Fellow from ConocoPhillips Company more than 34 years later in 2015. For me, process engineering is more than a practice, it's a lifelong passion.

In my opinion, there is a deep, internal sense of satisfaction in what you do as a process engineer-especially as I reflect now.

I'm hoping that others in this community feel the same and that this can be a home for process engineers who want to become better at their jobs, share stories, and help others.

You can learn more about me here.

Looking forward to our future discussions throughout this new community!

Hi my name is Monica Wilson and I began my career sometime ago (I never tell) at Union Carbide in Charleston, WV.  I guess some would say I'm a pioneer as I began my career somewhere in the 80s, but, I never think of myself as that.  Chemical engineering was a nice opportunity that was not available until the 1970s for folk like me, so I thought of it as "taking my shot" (Hamilton reference for our theater loving friends).

I graduated from Wayne State Univ in Detroit, MI - my hometown - with about five other women and immediately left Detroit for West Virginia.  Yeah, it was a culture shock, but I met some of my dearest friends for life during that time.

I then moved to Cleveland, OH to work for the former ICI Paints which is now AkzoNobel.  I've had a storied career working in process technology that has lead me all over the world.  I'm now working in an advanced manufacturing global group implementing leading edge technology in our polymer operations facility.

Chemical Engineering has done me well and I hope to learn some your experiences as well.

Hi all! My name is Jordan Rhoades. I just graduated from the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University in May of 2018!

During school I worked for Cook Pharmica in their Validation department in Bloomington, IN. Cook Pharmica (recently acquired by Catalent) was a CMO with drug substance manufacturing as well as formulation, fill, finish capabilities.

I also spent one summer interning for an engineering and architectural firm called Process Plus in Cincinnati, OH.

After graduation I started working at Jacobs in their process engineering group. The Jacobs office in Cincinnati is one of the main offices for Life Sciences within Jacobs. In my (almost) 6 months with Jacobs so far, I have worked on a conceptual design for a pharmaceutical facility expansion, mainly focusing on utility requirements.  I have also done a little CQV work as well.

I'm very excited to be in the field I am, and I look forward to seeing where it will take me!

Hi, my name is David Griffith. Currently, I am semi-retired though have been teaching Process Technology at a local community college. My career has taken me from enhanced oil recovery (EOR) research in Tulsa to forming and running a small chemical company in Wisconsin with then a dramatic shift to developing and marketing electronic data interchange (EDI) software for my wife's company. The latter came about as I had to become involved in the accounting software of my chemical company.

My intention is to spy on this group. None of us know everything about process operations. And, that is very true at the colleges which have process technology programs. I have two major concerns. The first is acquainting the technologists with the underlying science as I feel understanding that science will make better operators. The second is the development of a "unit operations" type lab to give the students a better understanding in addition to providing a "hands on" experience.

Hi my name is Badr Aldossari. I started my career as a Metal Mechanic at Saudi Aramco from 2005 to 2011. After that, I moved forward and continued my education as a Biological Process and Chemical Engineer at Massey university in New Zealand. I was awarded my certificate late 2017. I am now working as a Research and Development Engineer for Yokogawa Saudi Arabia Company in Saudi Arabia which is specialized in control systems from manufacturing to installations and technical services. I feel like I am drifted from chemical processes specially that Yokogawa focuses on DCS, APC, PLC, SCADA ... etc.  But I hope that I strengthen my knowledge in control systems and add value to my career portfolio.

I look forward to engage in as many discussion as I can to learn from everyone and most importantly make new friends. Who knows maybe we get to work together in a same place one day or arrange a trip somewhere.

Hello my name is Wyatt Winkenwerder.

I have been a Process Scientist with AkzoNobel Specialty Chemicals now known as Nouryon for the past 10 years.

For me process development is both challenging and a great deal of fun requiring a mix of creativity, intuition and knowledge. I truly believe the chemical industry is approaching a technological inflection point that will see new technologies (e.g. bio-based materials) disrupt much of the current order of things.

Similar to what happened for petroleum-based chemistry in the mid-1900s, process engineers will play an important role in this transition.

I look forward to meeting others in the community and hearing your insights and stories.
