Do you believe your industry is in a growth phase or in decline? How do you believe you will be professionally impacted as a result?

It depends on the regions and the industry.

For oil and gas exploration and production in China, it may keep the same or slightly declined. For Petrochemical products, it will be expanding greatly in China in the next few years due to the big market demands, this can be proven by the massive projects invested or planned by international giant firms.

So in the near future, there will be a big demand of process safety management professionals in China.

After many years of decline, I believe the pulp & paper industry is re-emerging and re-defining itself.  Society is requiring the use of more & more renewable resources.  Unfortunately,  I think there was a few decades in which the young talent of professionals avoided this industry.  Therefore, there is a gap of experienced professionals that are available for this industry.  Having said that, it is a tremendous opportunity to gain accelerated experience if your willing.
