    Hi,

We all know by now that podcasting is a serious medium where lots of people derive information, entertainment, and advice.

I'm curious to hear from members on Discussion Central.

    Do you listen to podcasts?

If so, what are some of your favorites?

Are there any you recommend to chemical engineers and related professionals?

I prefer webinars for the immediate Q&A opportunity.  Podcasts are also good as you can view them as the need arises.  As long as the ability to ask questions and preferable earn PDHs are available, they fit the bill.

I recently discovered a podcast called Nanovation with Prof. Michael Filler, which happened to feature one of my ChemE professors (Dr. Elizabeth Nance) in a recent episode. It was fascinating to hear more about her research, and I am planning to listen to some more episodes. Many of the topics covered in this podcast are relevant to me since I work in nanotechnology.

    Hi John,

I do not know any interesting ChemE podcasts, but there are a few science-related YouTube channels that I follow.

This is an interesting YT channel if you are interested in organic chemistry synthesis.

I recently found the Popular Science podcast "Weirdest Thing I Learned This Week" it has a variety of random facts which they go into more details and descriptions of.

60 Second Science is a quick easy podcast full of random topics. Not heavy on the actual science but it does spark the imagination.

Stuff You Should Know is a little lengthy but goes in depth into the topics and is friendly for all ages.

Science Friday is also another podcast to look at.

I quite like the BBC Inside Science podcast that comes out on Thursdays.  It's for a general audience, but doesn't hold back on technical terminology or concepts.  The presenter is a biologist, so it tends to be a little heavy on the life sciences but it does cover a broad range of topics and often gets me thinking.

The same presenter (Adam Rutherford) also has a more light hearted show that he co-presents with Hannah Fry - The Curious Cases of Rutherford and Fry.  They pick a question sent in by an audience member and do a series of short interviews with experts to try to answer it.  I think the radio version is only 15min long, but the podcast has another 15 minutes of them adding content and bantering - the sort of conversation you'd get over lunch at a research lab.
