    Hi everyone,

Since this is such a big group, I thought we might take some time to introduce ourselves, so that our future posts have a bit more context. Feel free to share who you are, your field of chemical engineering, what you are working on currently, and anything about you that your fellow members might find interesting or surprising.

I'm Monica, AIChE Membership Associate and the Engage Community Lead.  I have been with AIChE three years and work primarily with AIChE’s Young Professional members and our Local Sections.  I previously worked at the American Public Power Association in their Engineering and Operations Department.  I love working with engineers and look forward to continuing to work with each of you through AIChE and Engage!

    Now it's your turn--introduce yourselves!

    Hello Everyone,

I'm Anthony Fregosi, member of AIChE since 1987. I am currently a member of the New Orleans and Virtual Local Sections. I am currently the Immediate Past Chair of the Career and Education Operating Council (CEOC) and a Fellow of AIChE.

I have worked for only two companies since graduation from the University of Florida in 1987. Occidental Chemical in White Springs, Florida and Cornerstone Chemical Company in Westwego (just outside New Orleans), Louisiana. However Cornerstone was previously named American Cyanamid and then Cytec Industries before being called Cornerstone Chemical Company.

Over the years I have worked as a Process/Production Engineer, Process Safety and Environmental Compliance Coordinator and currently as a Manufacturing Systems Engineer (IT Department).

Good morning everyone or (Всем Доброе утро here in Kazakhstan)

I'm Marc Clithero and I graduated from Loughborough University in 1995 and entered the world of Engineering Contracting. I have worked in the Oil and Gas / Petrochemical fields all my working life so far and as is typical have spent my fair share abroad working in the Middle East and parts of Europe. I have risen through the ranks holding positions such as Senior, Principal and Lead Process Engineer. Some of this time was spent as an independent engineer (from which i gained a lot of experience) I now find myself as Chief Process Engineer for an Engineering Contracting company in Kazakhstan. I haven't really specialised in any particular field or technology, more of a generalist in Oil refineries, Offshore facilities and onshore Hydrocarbon and petrochemical facilities.

    Thanks (Спасибо)

I'm Elizabeth Sendich, and I'm an analyst with EIA’s Macroeconomic Analysis Team, even though I'm a ChE not an economist. I help maintain our long-term industrial forecasts, globally and domestically, and I work to enhance public understanding of important issues related to industrial sector operators, such as those that produce chemicals. Before working at EIA, I studied chemical engineering at Michigan State University, BS 2004 and PhD 2008, which included working in the DOE funded Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Laboratory.  My dissertation covered my model to simulate biorefineries integrated with realistic agricultural landscapes as providers of feedstocks and other goods simultaneously. During this work I gained significant experience in LCA, these were the principle on which the model was founded. In my personal time, I love wild animals, particularly my husband and daughter, games, puzzles, and cooking.

Nice to virtually meet you all. This communication network is a great new asset for AIChE members. Congratulations to all who made it happen!

I spent most of my career in industry involved in process technology development. After 30+ years, I retired and went back to school, finishing a Masters in Geographic Information Systems. So I guess that makes me a chemical engineering geographer, or maybe a geographical chemical engineer? I have started a new adventure in independent consulting, while remaining very active in volunteer international service work through Engineers Without Borders. And continue working with AIChE on the Fellows Council, Foundation Board of Trustees and the new Global Societal Initiatives Committee.

Looking forward to chatting with you all here.

Hi folks, I have been on tour of duty for 30 years in process and process safety. I have worked on 86 projects and in 15 countries. I have had awards recognitions at elite high schools, university and a couple of major operators and EPC companies in process innovation and process safety. Unfortunately, I have not worked in US as yet but this might come in near future when the shale gas picks up ! It was only a gesture, with shale gas, there will be hardly any future for oil.

Hello, I am Alan Cannon (I use my middle name), and I have been a member of AIChE since 1967. After 4 years of US Navy and 2 years in manufacturing, I began working as a Process Engineer in the Engineering and Construction industry. 44 years later (8/28/2015) I retired after working for 8 E&C company's with only 4 job changes (several buyout's involved).

I loved the variety of industries and projects found in the E&C field. The projects were in the textile, agrichemical, refinery, petrochemical, plastics, pulp & paper, phosphate, chloralkali, optical fiber, and several other industries. Over the years I became a licensed Professional Engineer in 8 states, and I highly recommend others also become licensed. My favorite areas of work were in process simulation, distillation, and heat exchanger design, as well as developing Excel spreadsheet and Access database applications related to my process design work. The projects I worked on ranged from feasibility studies all the way through detailed design and startup assistance on-site. Several also included conceptual process development.

I thoroughly enjoyed my work; it wasn't a job, it was a profession. I liked the work so much I continued working well past the time I could have retired even though financially able to retire earlier. When I did retire last August (age 71) it was primarily because I wanted to retire early enough to also enjoy my retirement.

    Greetings,

My name is Sam Davis.  I graduated in 94' with a BS ChE and 95' MS MetE.  I obtained my PE in ChE in 2001 while working at TIMET (Titanium Metals Corp.) in Henderson, NV, as a Process Engineer.  I went on to hold positions as Sr. Process Safety, Sr. Process Engineer, and Sr. Development Engineer for 3 different companies in the metals, materials, and mining segments.  This year I became a senior member of AIChE.  I have a lot of fond memories with AIChE and am grateful for all the educational activities, networking and friendships made (to name a few).

For about the past 5 years I have been running my own engineering business.  One of the best things is to be able to work on a variety of really interesting projects on topics like biofuel from algae, carbon sequestration, 3D prototypes and renewable energy storage.

    Cheers,

The best way for us to introduce ourselves is via the profile each of us has on the AIChE web site.  I suggest that we all review what the web site has and make any changes needed.  That way anybody interested in knowing the background of any contributor can easily find it.
