I've never been to San Antonio before. Can anyone recommend any good restaurants in the area within walking distance of the convention center?  Thanks!

There are a number of good restaurants on the Paseo del Rio (Riverwalk), which is within walking distance of the convention center.  A lot of it depends on what you are looking for.  You can find Mexican food, of course, but there are also seafood, Italian, steak houses, burger joints, barbecue, German, pubs, etc.  The walk around the river should be very pleasant at the end of March.  I have never had a bad meal at any of the restaurants, although the waits can sometimes be long, especially on weekends.  That should not be a problem during the conference.

There are also some nice places just off the Riverwalk.  One of my favorites for Tex-Mex is Rosario's, about a half mile south of the convention center down Alamo Street.

If you get a chance, breakfast on the Riverwalk is very pleasant.  It's quite a different scene early in the morning.  I enjoy taking a brisk walk around while the crowds are gone and then having breakfast at one of the restaurants, like maybe Charlie Wants a Burger.

One of my personal favorites is Mi Tierra.  Good food.  Good sweet bread for after dinner snack or morning sustenance.  It is a little bit of a trek from the convention center area, but you can take the trolley.  It is definitely worth the effort.

Check Yelp and Trip Advisor and Google Maps.
It depends on what you enjoy, how much $$ and
    how much time you have.

First, and always, NEVER go out walking without a map.
The River walk is, essentially a circle off of the river.
Once you are on the walk, you lose all sense of direction
If you stop, eat and have several drinks, your memory
is even more clouded. If you find yourself lost w/o a map,
stop in and ask for directions back.

Mexican is always good in San Antonio.
For nice and quiet, try the Fig Tree.
For local food, they Casa del Rio, on the River Walk.
It has been the go-to for decades.
There is also Shiloh’s, an old German deli

La Fagota is our favorite, if you want to get out of
downtown and take a short taxi ride. The story
is that if you eat the orchid on your margarita, you
    won’t get drunk.

I would suggest going to Rosario's that is down the street. Most of the food on the Riverwalk is very commercial. If you are up for a little longer walk and some great local restaurants go to South Town, there is great BBQ at B&D Ice House and a food truck park that has something for everyone. For a little pricier fare go to Bohannans steak house and try their steaks.

    Hi Ashley,

Rosarios is a great Mexican restaurant. It's not on the Riverwalk, which, in my opinion makes it a bit more authentic.

You'll have to take a cab or lyft there but it's not too far. Be sure to go to the Southtown one.

I second (third?) Denver's and John's recommendation of Rosario's. I ate there last night with friends. We all enjoyed fajitas (shrimp and steak for me, steak for one, chicken for the other). I also highly recommend the sangria -- it's light and not too sweet. We walked there from the Hyatt Regency Riverwalk; according to Google maps it's 0.7 miles.
